August 2002 - Elliot begins Masters Commission
|

Moving In:

- to the home of David Nelson, the
overalled guy on the John Deere |

in a beautiful setting, across the street
from Rock River |

David Nelson lives here alone; his wife
died a year ago. |

The Nelson's have been "home-openers",
housing Master's Commission students, for eight years. |

Accommodations include room and board. |

The basement is a wonderful living area
for Elliot and his two roommates. |

Downstairs: bedroom,
huge rec room, bath, library, fireplace, and a laundry room with Mr.
Nelson's brand new (and first-ever) washer and drier. |

one of Elliot's roommates and David
Nelson's granddaughter |
Elliot blowing a
shofar
Interesting story - This shofar was a gift to him, from a family he
met in Alaska recently... who got it when they were in Israel.
The Shofar is the ritual instrument of the ancient and modern
Hebrews. This is a Yeminite shofar
which came
from the African antelope. |

From a
9.24.02 email to me -
"...How are you doing? Well, things here
are going better than ever! Last night was one of the best nights of
my life. I'll tell you about it some other time. [ok,
sounds pretty good] ... I love you, Elliot"
